Our Story

We didn’t start with a product. We started with a dog named Marlo.

Marlo came to us as a rescue. He was a three-year-old terrier mix who was scared of just about everything. Loud noises, strangers, sudden movements. It took months to earn his trust through slow walks, quiet evenings and a lot of patience.

Then came nail day.

The moment the clippers came out, it was like all that trust disappeared. Marlo would shake, pull away and try to hide. One day we accidentally nicked the quick.

He yelped, and we felt awful.

Anyone who’s done it knows that feeling. You’re only trying to help them, but somehow you become the thing they’re scared of.

For a while we stopped doing his nails ourselves and paid groomers instead. But every time Marlo came home, he seemed withdrawn and exhausted. Something still didn’t feel right.

So we started trying to understand why.

The deeper we looked, the more we realised this wasn’t really about nails at all. We learned that dogs hear the world very differently from us. Sounds that seem harmless to people can feel overwhelming to an anxious dog. We read everything we could find about canine stress, fear responses and why some dogs seem to panic the moment grooming tools come out.

What surprised us most was how many products were designed to get the job done, but not necessarily to make the experience easier for the dog.

That’s when things finally clicked.

Marlo wasn’t being difficult.

And we weren’t failing him.

We just didn’t have the right tool.

So we decided to create one.

Fawn exists for people who love their dogs deeply but dread the things they know they need to do. Nail trims, grooming and all the little moments that can quietly put stress on a relationship built on trust.

We’re not a big pet company. We’re dog people.

Everything we make starts with a simple question:

Will this make the experience feel safer and less stressful for the dog?

If the answer is yes, we keep going.

If it isn’t, we don’t.

Because nobody who loves their dog should have to choose between caring for them and keeping their trust.
