Our Story
We didn’t start with a product.
We started with a dog named Marlo.
Marlo came to us as a rescue. He was a three-year-old terrier mix who was terrified of loud noises, strangers and sudden movements. We spent months rebuilding his trust through slow walks, quiet evenings and a lot of patience.
Then came nail day.
The clippers came out and Marlo became a different dog. Shaking. Pulling away. Trying to hide. The one time we got close enough, we nicked the quick.
He yelped.
For a long time, we believed we’d failed him.
After that, we paid groomers to handle it. But every time Marlo came home, he seemed shut down and exhausted for hours. It never felt right. We knew there had to be a better way.
So we started researching.
We learned about how sensitive a dog’s hearing really is. We learned how quickly fear can become a conditioned response. We learned that many products marketed as “quiet” are still loud enough to trigger stress in nervous dogs.
And then we learned something that changed everything.
It wasn’t a love problem.
It was a sound problem.
And sound problems can be solved.
The stress and fear around grooming aren’t permanent. They’re learned. And with the right approach, they can be unlearned too.
We couldn’t find a nail grinder built specifically for anxious dogs, so we decided to build one ourselves.
That’s how Fawn began.
Fawn exists for one reason: no one who loves their dog should ever feel like they’re failing them over something as simple as a nail trim.
We’re not a big pet company. We’re dog owners who know what it feels like to dread nail day and worry about breaking your dog’s trust.
Every product we create has to answer one simple question:
Does this make the dog feel safer?
If the answer is yes, we make it.
If not, we don’t.
If you’d ever like to reach out, you can email us at support@fawnpets.com.
We read every message. Usually with a dog curled up beside us. 🐾
